Day 01.
Arrive in Beijing
Arrive Beijing by air. Guide will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. Dinner on your own.
Day 02.
Beijing
Guide will take you to Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City in the morning. Stay as long as you like and you will have a lunch in the Hutongs Old neighborhood after the Forbidden City. Guide will then take you on a Walking Tour of the Hutongs with a family visit. Guide will then take you to Madame Soongs last home as an example of Pre-revolutionary mansions. It has been left exactly as it was the day she died. You will visit the Houhai Lake area for afternoon tea which is an area where local people gather to enjoy themselves. In the evening you will go to dinner at the Dazhaimen Restaurant of Family Bai which was once the Garden Home of Prince Li of the Qing Dynasty.

Day 03.
Beijing
Guide will take you to the Great Wall at Mutianyu with the cable car included in both directions. Stay as long as you like. We suggest hiking out to the left once you are on the Wall and go to where they have not repaired the Wall where few people go. On the way back to the city you will stop at the Lama Temple where you will see a 5 storey tall Buddha carved from one tree trunk. Return to your hotel. Dinner on your own. (B/L)
Day 04.
Beijing-Xian by train
In the morning the guide will take you to the Palace of Prince Gong which is the World’s largest Courtyard Home. Beijing Sunday you will see many local people enjoying their free day with families and many activities on the large park like grounds. Guide will take you to lunch before transferring to the train station. In Xian you will be met by the local guide outside the exit holding a sign up with your name on it . Guide will transfer you to the hotel.

Day 05.
Xian
Guide will take you to Huashanmountain where you will take a cable car up onto the mountain and hike as long as you like. There are small cafes there where you may have your lunch on your own. Returning to the city you will attend the Tang Dynasty Dinner Show.

Day 06.
Xian-Pingyao by train
During the day you will go to the Xuixi Alley dated from 618 to 907 and once the commercial area at the start of the Silk Road. Guide will then take you to lunch before going out to the famous Terra Cotta Warriors site for the afternoon. Guide will then bring you back to the city for a quick dinner or you may take some food with you for the train. Arriving in Pingyao you will be met by the local guide holding up a sign with your name on it . Guide will then transfer you to the hotel.

Day 07.
Pingyao
Everything within the city walls is as it was built and not allowed to be changed. The First Bank of China was started here and you will be able to visit it. Explore as much as you like with the guide to help you with any of your special interests.

Day 08.
Pingyao - Taiyuan by car
Guide will take you through the countryside with a stop at the Qiao Family Mansion with over 313 rooms and was the site of the movie. “Raise the Red Lantern”. (see if you can rent it beore you go as it will make your visit far more interesting). You will also visit the Qu Mansion in Qixian which were land owners mansions. You will arrive in Taiyuan and transfer to the hotel. Dinner on your own.

Day 09.
Taiyuan - Datong
Guide will take you through the countryside where you will visit the oldest wooden Pagoda in China built in 1056 and still standing. Guide will then take you on to the famous Hanging Temple. Near by is the village of Dong Ge Turn which is called the Mud Village as it is mostly built half underground entirely by mud and with only one water well for the whole village. Near by is a Cave Home you may visit it the owner is still alive. You will then travel on to Datong and transfer to the hotel. (this is an old coal mining city and remains mostly unchanged in the last 100 years or more.)

Day 10.
Datong - Beijing
In the morning the guide will take you to the famous Yungang Buddhist Caves dating to the 5th century. Until train time you may have time to visit the Huayan Temple built in 907 to 1125 and /or the Shanhua Temple originally built in the year 713. Guide will transfer you to the train station. In Beijing you will be met by an agent at the exit of the train holding up a sign with your name on it. Guide will transfer you back to the hotel. You might take food with you for the train and then dinner on your own.

Day 11.
Beijing - Home
Free until the time the guide will transfer you to the airport for your flight home.
